Preparations for the 2026 Montana’s Brier in St. John’s are in full swing with less than six weeks until the event. The final batch of tickets will be released on Tuesday at 12 p.m. NT, with approximately 350 to 450 tickets available for each draw, according to Eugene Trickett, vice-chair of the tournament committee. The high demand for tickets, driven in part by the anticipation of seeing local favorite Brad Gushue compete in his final Brier before retirement, is expected to result in a quick sell-out.
Trickett expressed that the upcoming Brier, with Gushue retiring on home turf, is unprecedented and generating significant excitement. Fans are eager to witness Gushue’s farewell performance, reminiscent of the 2017 tournament where he clinched his first Brier title in front of a supportive St. John’s crowd.
Tickets for the event can be purchased on Curling Canada’s website, with the possibility of additional tickets becoming available closer to the tournament as unused tickets from sponsors or participants are released. Despite the challenge of securing tickets, individuals can still participate by volunteering for the event.
Nearly 98% of the required 400 volunteers have been recruited, with the remaining spots primarily at the Patch, an entertainment hub located at the St. John’s Convention Centre. The Patch will offer various attractions including bars, food vendors, and live performances by artists such as the Irish Descendants and Billy and the Bruisers. Trickett foresees a bustling atmosphere at the Patch, particularly on Friday and Saturday nights, making it a central hub of activity during the Brier.
Interested individuals can register to volunteer through the Curling Canada website.
