Henry Walter, known musically as Cirkut, received a message from his lawyer in 2008 regarding his beats being used in a writing session for a prominent musician. The beats were eventually featured in Britney Spears’s song “Mmm Papi” from her “Circus” album. This marked a significant moment of validation for Walter, who has since become a highly sought-after music producer and songwriter, contributing to hit songs by artists like Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, and The Weeknd over the past 15 years.
Originally from Ottawa, Walter spent his formative years in Halifax, where he immersed himself in the local music scene and learned from influential figures like DJ Skratch Bastid and DJ IV. His passion for music drove him to create beats and experiment with sound, leading him to pursue a career in the industry.
After relocating to Toronto for audio engineering school in 2004, Walter continued honing his craft and eventually moved to Los Angeles in 2012. Since then, he has worked with top-tier artists and earned multiple Grammy nominations for his production work. Walter’s collaborative spirit and talent have garnered praise from peers and industry veterans, solidifying his reputation as a respected figure in the music world.
Reflecting on his journey from Halifax to working with global icons like Lady Gaga, Walter remains grateful for the opportunities that have come his way. His dedication to music and willingness to push creative boundaries have propelled him to success, with accolades and achievements that underscore his impact on the contemporary music landscape.
