“Frosty the Horse Saved from Frozen Creek in Cochin”

In Cochin, Sask., a horse that fell into a frozen creek is now known as Frosty after a successful rescue operation. The incident was reported by a concerned resident to Cochin’s mayor, Mark Pattinson, who, along with a friend Ed Scott, located the struggling animal submerged in freezing water and ice. Initial attempts to rescue the horse with rope and manpower failed, prompting the arrival of more locals and RCMP officers with a Jeep equipped with a winch. Using a strong rope attached to the winch, they managed to pull the horse out of the ice within 30 minutes despite its poor condition.

The horse, exhausted and covered in ice, was carefully helped to its feet before being draped in a blanket and taken to the village shop for warmth. It was revealed that the horse had been wandering as its previous owner had passed away without anyone to care for it. The community rallied together to provide assistance, including offering financial support for veterinary care. Frosty was eventually transported to a veterinary clinic in North Battleford for further treatment by local farmers who brought a horse trailer. The heartwarming rescue effort showcased the community’s compassion and generosity towards the lonely horse.
