U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin had agreed to participate in Trump’s Peace Board initiative aimed at resolving global conflicts. However, Putin quickly responded, stating that the invitation was still under consideration.
Speaking to reporters at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Trump confirmed, “He was invited. He’s accepted.” Shortly after Trump’s statement, Putin informed the Russian security council that the foreign ministry was still assessing the proposal and would provide a response in due time.
Trump clarified his decision to include Russia in the peace initiative by emphasizing his desire to involve all nations, particularly those led by influential figures. He defended his choice by stating, “I have some controversial people. But these are people that get the job done. These are people that have tremendous influence.”
