New York Sirens triumphed over Montreal Victoire with a 2-1 victory at Capital One Arena during the PWHL’s Takeover Tour. Kristýna Kaltounková and Anne Cherkowski each found the back of the net, with Kayle Osborne making 31 saves to secure the win.
Montreal, with a record of 5-2-0-5, saw their three-game winning streak come to an end. The game, held in Washington, D.C., drew a crowd of 17,228 spectators, setting a new attendance record for a women’s hockey game in the United States. The previous record was set by Seattle Torrent with 16,014 fans on November 28.
Sarah Fillier contributed two assists for New York, who now have a record of 7-0-1-5, winning five of their last six games. Kaltounková, the top pick in the 2025 PWHL draft, has scored nine goals this season, tying with Kendall Coyne Schofield of Minnesota for the league’s top scorer.
Maggie Flaherty scored a power-play goal for Montreal in the first period. Kaltounková opened the scoring early in the game by converting a rebound from Fillier’s shot. Cherkowski extended New York’s lead to 2-1 in the second period.
Montreal had previously defeated New York 4-0, but the Sirens avenged that loss with a 4-3 win, thanks to Osborne’s 43 saves. Montreal will face Minnesota next, while New York will host Ottawa in their upcoming games.
