The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) revealed close to 30,000 pages of documents on Tuesday, including images, court files, and emails related to Jeffrey Epstein. This release comes after the initial disclosure of documents on Friday and Saturday concerning the DOJ’s case records on the deceased convicted sex offender. The documents contain Canadian ties, including information on Peter Nygard.
One of the documents featured an April 2020 letter drafted by the DOJ and dispatched to authorities in the U.K. The FBI and the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York aimed to arrange an interview with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, then Prince Andrew, regarding potential links to fashion tycoon Peter Nygard. The letter indicated evidence connecting Mountbatten-Windsor to both Nygard and Epstein in separate sex-trafficking probes.
According to the letter, Mountbatten-Windsor had visited Nygard Cay, Nygard’s luxurious property in the Bahamas, where Nygard allegedly trafficked minor and adult female victims. The U.S. authorities sought Prince Andrew’s insights on his visits to Nygard Cay during the pertinent investigation timeframe and any knowledge he had about Peter Nygard and associated individuals.
Notably, the former prince was not a subject of any ongoing inquiry at that time, and there was no indication of him violating U.S. laws. The letter suggested that Mountbatten-Windsor might have been requested to provide testimony in either the Nygard or Epstein cases if he shared relevant information during an interview.
U.S. authorities had specific inquiries for their U.K. counterparts to pose to Mountbatten-Windsor, including details of his encounters with Epstein or Nygard, visits to their properties, and interactions with women associated with them. Nygard has been confronted with multiple sexual assault allegations across various jurisdictions, culminating in a 2023 Toronto jury finding him guilty on four sexual assault counts.
In an FBI “intake” record, dated August 2, 2020, an unnamed individual alleged being groomed by a Serbian Canadian “lingerie model actress” and another person in 1996 when they were 19. The complainant mentioned having their artwork stolen by these individuals to settle a financial debt, describing a scheme involving false romance and grooming that led to an encounter with Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein.
Maxwell, implicated in recruiting underage girls for Epstein, was arrested in July 2020 and subsequently convicted on charges including sex trafficking conspiracy and sex trafficking of a minor. She is currently serving a 20-year prison term.
Another allegation received by the FBI on August 5, 2020, involved a person introduced to Epstein by a Canadian woman, described as an aspiring French Canadian model, who was also acquainted with Maxwell. The individual, identified as a jewelry designer, recalled the meeting taking place in New York City around 2004 or 2005 and detailed the Canadian woman’s role in procuring young women, including underage aspiring models, for Epstein.
The Canadian woman allegedly received cash from Epstein for her assistance and mentioned his preference for massages.
