A heat wave over the weekend led to the breaking of daily high temperature records at 26 locations in British Columbia on Sunday. The highest temperature of 36.8 C was recorded in Lytton, surpassing the previous record of 35.4 C set in 2002. Other communities like Lillooet, Cache Creek, Pemberton, and Port Alberni also experienced temperatures exceeding 35 C, with Pemberton hitting 36.3 C. In Vancouver, the daily high reached 26.8 C, breaking the 1932 record by 1.2 C. Victoria saw temperatures exceeding 30 C, surpassing a record set in 1999. The warm weather is expected to continue across much of the province during the week. Additionally, several other communities, including Tofino, Whistler, Squamish, Sechelt, Qualicum Beach, Powell River, Port Hardy, Nanaimo, Hope, Abbotsford, Campbell River, and Bella Bella, reported record high temperatures on Sunday.
