A 43-year-old man from Liverpool, Nova Scotia faces charges for pretending to be a police officer and stealing a dump truck in separate incidents on the South Shore. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) reported that the man, dressed in civilian clothing, approached the Cookville RCMP detachment near Bridgewater on the night of December 26. He claimed to be a sergeant transferred from another province but could not provide RCMP identification when asked by an officer. Subsequently, he was arrested for impersonating a police officer and violating a court order. The man appeared in Bridgewater provincial court on December 29 and was granted release under certain conditions.
In a separate incident, the man was charged with additional offenses after Queens District RCMP responded to a stolen truck report on January 1. The authorities discovered that the suspect had entered a garage in West Caledonia, taken a dump truck, and was later spotted driving it on Highway 3 in Liverpool. Law enforcement intercepted the vehicle, arrested the driver, and charged him with break and enter with intent, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, and two counts of non-compliance with an order. The individual had court appearances in Bridgewater on January 2 and January 7, and is currently in custody awaiting a court hearing scheduled for February 4.
