Abbotsford police have disclosed that a deadly shooting at a residence in the suburbs is linked to the ongoing gang conflict in British Columbia. The Abbotsford Police Department confirmed that the incident, which took place on Siskin Drive, is not related to extortion and does not pose any additional threat to the public.
Sgt. Paul Walker from the Abbotsford Police Department informed the media that law enforcement officers responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 12:30 p.m. PT on Friday. The shooting was contained within the confines of a single property on Siskin Drive. Walker stated, “[The] individual residing in the home has a known history with law enforcement and is associated with the B.C. gang conflict.”
The investigation into the shooting is now being handed over to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team. The incident led to the closure of Siskin Drive between Sandpiper Drive and Stellar Court on the day of the incident.
Walker emphasized the disruptive impact such incidents have on neighborhoods, affecting the residents’ sense of safety. He urged anyone with information or relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to come forward and assist in the investigation.
