Canadian figure skaters Alicia Fabbri and Paul Ayer secured the fourth spot in ice dance, with Gabrielle Daleman landing in seventh place in the women’s singles competition at the Four Continents Championships in Beijing on Friday. The ice dance podium was dominated by American skaters, with Emilea Zingas and Vadym Kolesnik clinching the gold medal with 202.86 points. Caroline Green and Michael Parsons took the silver medal with 194.72 points, while Oona and Gage Brown secured the bronze with 190.78 points.
Fabbri and Ayer, who have previously won bronze at the Canadian championships, scored a total of 183.49 points. In the women’s singles event, Yuna Aoki from Japan claimed the gold medal with an impressive score of 217.39 points. Her compatriots, Ami Nakai and Mone Chiba, secured the silver and bronze medals with scores of 215.78 and 202.23 points, respectively.
Daleman, a two-time Olympian, dropped from fourth place after the short program to finish in seventh position following the free skate, achieving a total score of 183.47 points. The 28-year-old skater from Newmarket, Ontario, participated in only her second international competition since recovering from a back injury and two ankle surgeries. Despite aiming to secure a spot in her third Olympics in singles, Madeline Schizas earned the sole spot for Canada at the upcoming Milan Cortina Games in February.
Several skaters bound for the Olympics, including Schizas, opted out of competing at the Four Continents Championships due to its proximity to the Games.
