Maintenance staff at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax stumbled upon a unique find in a service elevator during the holiday season. While replacing a protective panel in the elevator, they uncovered an autograph belonging to Aerosmith’s lead vocalist, Steven Tyler. The signature dates back to the band’s performance at the venue on December 28, 1993, when tickets were priced at $32.50.
Adria Young, a representative for Events East, the organization overseeing the Scotiabank Centre, expressed excitement about the discovery, calling it a valuable piece of rock history. She mentioned that over the years, various artists and staff members, including Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose and Bryan Adams, had left their marks on the elevator walls as a tradition.
The wall, adorned with signatures, was eventually painted over in the late 1990s, preserving only Steven Tyler’s autograph. Young noted that the recent unearthing of the signature, hidden for about two decades, has reignited interest in the venue’s rich history of hosting renowned personalities.
Despite the curiosity surrounding the autograph, visitors won’t have the chance to view it in person as it is now safeguarded behind the newly installed protective panel.
