“Air Force One Returns to D.C. Due to Electrical Issue”

Air Force One made a quick return to the vicinity of Washington, D.C. following a minor electrical problem discovered on the president’s aircraft, scheduled for a trip to Switzerland for the World Economic Forum. White House officials confirmed the incident.

Upon landing the Boeing 747, the journey proceeded using a smaller Boeing 757 that departed just past midnight ET on Wednesday, more than two hours after the initial takeoff. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt informed reporters late Tuesday that the decision to return occurred post-takeoff when the Air Force One crew identified a minor electrical issue and opted to return as a precautionary measure.

A reporter present mentioned a momentary blackout in the press cabin following takeoff, with no immediate explanation provided. The two current Air Force One planes have been in service for close to four decades, with Boeing working on replacements, albeit facing delays in the program’s progress.

In a notable development last year, the ruling family of Qatar gifted President Trump a deluxe Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet to augment the Air Force One fleet, a move that drew significant scrutiny. The gifted aircraft is currently undergoing modifications to meet security standards. Leavitt playfully remarked to reporters on Air Force One Tuesday night about the appealing sound of the Qatari jet in comparison.
