The diagnosis, received in early April, confirmed a fast-growing form of breast cancer.
Breast cancer in men is uncommon, making up less than 1% of all breast cancer cases in Canada, according to the Canadian Cancer Society. Dr. Mojola Omole, a breast surgical oncologist, emphasized that breast cancer affects everyone, as all individuals have breast tissue and are at risk. Mane highlighted the reluctance of men to address potential health issues due to societal perceptions of masculinity.
Early detection is crucial in the treatment of breast cancer. Mane, who has started chemotherapy, emphasized the importance of raising awareness and encouraging men to prioritize their health. He plans to launch a podcast to share his journey and help break the stigma surrounding male breast cancer. Mane expressed gratitude for the support he has received and remains optimistic about his prognosis.
