“Actress Catherine O’Hara Dies at 71 from Pulmonary Embolism”

The Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office has reported that actress Catherine O’Hara passed away due to a blood clot in her lung. The cause of death was identified as a pulmonary embolism with underlying rectal cancer. O’Hara, who was 71 years old, passed away on January 30 at a hospital in Santa Monica, California.

According to the certificate signed by her oncologist, O’Hara had been under treatment since March of the previous year, with her last visit on January 27. Catherine O’Hara was widely recognized for her numerous memorable roles in television and film, such as the sketch-comedy series “SCTV,” the popular movies “Beetlejuice” and “Home Alone,” and the acclaimed sitcom “Schitt’s Creek,” for which she received an Emmy Award.

Her career began when she was working as a waitress at the Second City Theatre in Toronto, where she found inspiration from the performers on stage and decided to pursue acting. O’Hara later joined the theatre’s touring company and eventually became a cast member of the “SCTV” TV show, where she collaborated with other Canadian comedy icons including Eugene Levy, John Candy, and Martin Short.
