Canada’s national men’s soccer team is set to play against Iceland and Tunisia in the upcoming March international window, with both matches scheduled to take place at Toronto’s BMO Field. The 29th-ranked Canadian team will first face Iceland on March 28, followed by a match against Tunisia on March 31. Additionally, both visiting teams will also play against Haiti in Toronto during the same window.
Looking ahead, Canada has announced a match against Uzbekistan, ranked 52nd globally, on June 1 in Edmonton. There is one more opponent yet to be revealed by Jesse Marsch’s team, who is preparing for its final World Cup warmup match against a European team in Montreal on June 5 or 6. The World Cup journey for Canada will kick off on June 12 against a European qualifier in Toronto, followed by matches against Qatar (ranked 56th) and Switzerland (ranked 18th) in Vancouver on June 18 and 24, respectively.
Tunisia, currently ranked 47th in the world, secured a spot in the World Cup with an impressive performance during the African qualifying phase, finishing on top of their group with a remarkable 9-0-1 record. On the other hand, Iceland, ranked 74th globally, fell short of qualification after finishing third in their European qualifying group with a record of 2-3-1. Meanwhile, Haiti, ranked 83rd worldwide, has also successfully qualified for the World Cup.
In a recent friendly match, Canada secured a 1-0 victory over Guatemala in Los Angeles, with Jacen Russell-Rowe scoring the lone goal off a setup by Malik Henry.
