Canadian rapper Drake made a grand statement with the launch of his latest album titled “Iceman” by illuminating the iconic CN Tower in Toronto with icy blue projections. The highly anticipated album release was accompanied by two surprise albums, “Habibti” and “Maid of Honour.”
During the album debut at midnight, Drake treated fans to a visual album livestream on YouTube, showcasing aerial views of downtown Toronto fused with music videos of unreleased tracks from “Iceman.” The livestream culminated in a spectacular 10-minute fireworks display along Toronto’s waterfront, lighting up the city skyline.
Throughout the livestream event, viewers caught glimpses of Drake inside the CN Tower, strolling through city hall, and cruising the streets of Toronto at night. In a poignant voiceover, Drake opened up about his father’s cancer diagnosis and reflected on his past feud with Kendrick Lamar.
Drake’s unconventional approach to album releases, opting for theatrical livestreams over traditional methods, was a deliberate choice driven by his desire for new challenges and a passion for acting. This innovative strategy was exemplified by the massive ice sculpture erected by Drake in downtown Toronto earlier in the year to unveil the album’s release date hidden within.
The buildup to the release of “Iceman” began in 2025 with a series of livestream episodes on YouTube, culminating in the fourth episode transforming Toronto’s waterfront into a visual spectacle with fireworks at the Harbourfront Centre and the mesmerizing CN Tower projections.
Drake’s musical journey has seen highs and lows, including a notable rap beef with Kendrick Lamar in 2024. Despite not securing a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 since the feud, Drake remains tied with Michael Jackson for the most No. 1 hits by a solo artist. His collaborative album with Partynextdoor in 2025 resulted in the hit single “Nokia” reaching the No. 2 spot on the charts.
