Former Beast Industries Employee Sues MrBeast’s Company

A former employee of Beast Industries is taking legal action against MrBeast’s media production company for allegedly terminating her position as a social media manager after she returned from maternity leave. The lawsuit, filed by Lorrayne Mavromatis in federal court in North Carolina, claims that the company violated federal laws regarding job-protected leave for childbirth and discriminated against her based on sex, pregnancy, and retaliation.

Mavromatis also filed a complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, detailing her experience of working tirelessly after giving birth and even during her time in the delivery room. She stated that she was fired less than three weeks after returning to work full-time.

In response to the allegations, a spokesperson for Beast Industries dismissed the lawsuit as a “clout-chasing complaint” filled with misrepresentations and false statements. The company explained that Mavromatis’s position was eliminated during a reorganization led by the new head of ecommerce.

The lawsuit sheds light on the internal culture of Beast Industries, highlighting accusations of workplace harassment and gender bias. This comes at a time when the company is expanding its media ventures, including the reality competition show “Beast Games” on Amazon Prime and the acquisition of the banking app Step.

The legal action against MrBeast’s company surfaces amidst efforts to address past controversies and improve the workplace environment. The company had previously faced scrutiny over allegations of inappropriate behavior and harassment, leading to the dismissal of several employees following an investigation.

Despite the ongoing legal battle, MrBeast’s media empire continues to grow, with recent hires from prominent companies and expansions into new ventures. The lawsuit was filed ahead of a prestigious event where MrBeast is set to be honored as one of Time100’s most influential people.

The lawsuit also highlights the intense work culture at Beast Industries, as detailed in a circulated guide encouraging employees to go above and beyond in their efforts. Mavromatis’s legal action points to a challenging work environment where she felt compelled to join a meeting from her hospital bed during labor out of fear of losing her job.

The case has garnered support from the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund, underscoring the importance of holding workplaces accountable for creating safe and inclusive environments for all employees.
