“Freezing Rain Alert for Ontario’s Golden Horseshoe”

Residents of Ontario’s Golden Horseshoe should prepare for freezing rain lasting several hours on Tuesday, as forecasted by Environment Canada. The freezing rain, possibly mixed with snow or ice pellets, is expected to commence in the morning for Hamilton, Burlington, and Brantford, and taper off by the afternoon, according to a special weather advisory.

The Niagara Region is anticipated to encounter rain in the late morning, with a potential risk of freezing rain by midday. The weather alert warns of hazardous conditions with icy and slippery roads and walkways, potentially difficult to detect icy surfaces, and the possibility of local utility outages and injuries from slips and falls.

Halton Student Transportation Services has announced the cancellation of school buses for the day, while schools will remain open. In terms of temperatures, Brantford will feel as cold as -9°C in the morning, with Hamilton experiencing a morning temperature of -8°C.
