A Chatham couple, Sheldon Cadotte, 30, and Daylene Trudell, 27, are set to exchange vows in a unique setting by getting married at center ice during a Windsor Spitfires game at the WFCU Centre on Jan. 8. The Windsor Spitfires have agreed to host their wedding ceremony during the game’s second intermission, with Windsor wedding officiant Joe McParland presiding over the event.
The couple’s decision to tie the knot on the ice stems from their deep love for hockey and the sport’s significance in their lives. Trudell, who has been a hockey fan since childhood, introduced Cadotte to OHL games, creating a special bond between them and the sport. The idea for the on-ice wedding originated after Cadotte proposed to Trudell at the WFCU Centre during a Spitfires game in April 2025.
The Windsor Spitfires organization is generously covering all expenses for the ceremony, providing the couple with a suite for their family and friends to witness the momentous occasion. Remo Agostino, the Spitfires’ brand manager, expressed the team’s excitement in being part of such a unique event, ensuring that Cadotte and Trudell receive a memorable and special experience.
Although the couple has been supporters of other hockey teams in the past, they now consider the Windsor Spitfires their home team and admire the players’ dedication and skills on the ice. Coinciding with Elvis Presley’s birthday, the wedding on Jan. 8 will be accompanied by Elvis-themed music and festivities, adding an extra touch of flair to the already special event.
Cadotte and Trudell are looking forward to celebrating their love in a one-of-a-kind way, surrounded by their friends, family, and fellow Spitfires fans, making their wedding day a truly unforgettable experience.
