Justin Bieber achieved a groundbreaking feat at the American Music Awards ceremony on Monday night, making history as the first artist to secure the title of best male pop artist for the fifth time. Hailing from Stratford, Ontario, Bieber had previously held the record with four wins in the same category, which he initially clinched back in 2010 when it was known as favorite pop/rock male artist.
Entering this year’s awards show in Las Vegas with four nominations, Bieber was a contender in categories such as artist of the year and album of the year for his work on the album “Swag.”
With this latest accolade, Bieber’s tally of American Music Awards now stands at 19, putting him on par with the late Kenny Rogers for the second-highest number of wins by a male artist. Michael Jackson, posthumously, retains the top spot among male artists with a total of 24 awards.
Justin Bieber recently made a resounding return to the stage with a headline performance at Coachella last month, marking his comeback to major concerts following the cancellation of a 2022 tour due to health complications from Ramsay Hunt syndrome.
Among the other noteworthy winners at the awards ceremony were BTS, who secured the prestigious artist of the year award, and Sabrina Carpenter, who emerged victorious in the album of the year category.
