Canada’s Laurie Blouin secured the top spot in a World Cup women’s snowboard slopestyle competition held in Aspen, Colorado. Despite starting in sixth place, the Quebec City native delivered an impressive final run, earning a score of 81.21 to clinch the victory.
This win marks Blouin’s third career triumph in World Cup slopestyle events and her 14th appearance on the podium. Notably, it is her first win on the World Cup circuit since March 2022. Blouin entered the final with confidence, focusing on enjoying the event without the burden of pressure, unlike other athletes striving to qualify for the upcoming Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina, Italy.
Expressing her feelings after the win, Blouin stated, “I was just here to have fun and not have any pressure, and that’s what I did. I’m pretty much qualified for the Olympics, so I came here to just get the nerve back.”
In the women’s competition, Japanese snowboarders Mari Fukada and Kokomo Murase secured the silver and bronze medals with scores of 77.26 and 75.36, respectively. Among the men, Francis Jobin from Quebec City was the highest-ranking Canadian, finishing in 12th place. Jake Canter of the United States claimed the gold medal, followed by Yiming Su in second place and Dane Menzies from New Zealand in third.
