In a thrilling 4-3 victory over the Montreal Victoire in Newark, N.J., the New York Sirens saw Anna Bargman score her first PWHL goal, while Kristyna Kaltounkova netted the game-winning goal.
Bargman’s goal came late in the first period, equalizing the score after Laura Stacey’s early goal for Montreal. This marked Bargman’s first point in the PWHL, having been a fifth-round draft pick for New York from Yale, where she holds the fourth spot on the Bulldogs’ all-time goals list.
Kristin O’Neill added her second goal of the season for New York, but Marie-Philip Poulin responded with a power play goal for the Victoire. Kaltounkova continued her impressive form by scoring in her fourth consecutive game, putting the Sirens ahead 3-2.
Paetyn Levis extended New York’s lead in the third period off a pass from Sarah Fillier. Montreal pulled their goaltender in the final minutes, resulting in a goal by Natalie Mlynkova off Abby Roque’s shot. However, time ran out for Montreal to find an equalizer.
Kayle Osborne, the Sirens’ goaltender, had a standout performance with a career-high 42 saves, while Sandra Abstreiter of Montreal made 17 saves.
In upcoming games, the Montreal Victoire will host Minnesota, while the New York Sirens will travel to face Toronto on January 6.
