A 47-year-old man from Pond Inlet, Nunavut, is facing multiple charges following an incident where he allegedly assaulted a woman and drove an all-terrain vehicle into a house in the Baffin Island community. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) reported that schools and workplaces were placed on lockdown after receiving reports of the man possessing a firearm.
In a statement released on Friday, the RCMP clarified that no weapon was found. The lockdown was lifted once the man was apprehended by the authorities. The individual is charged with seven offenses, including assault by strangulation, unlawful confinement, making threats, and causing damage. He is currently in custody and was set to appear for a bail hearing in Pond Inlet on Friday.
