Andrew Athias, a Philadelphia digital marketer, had a unique role in Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show as one of the hundreds of individuals disguised as grass. Athias shared his experience, mentioning the challenges of grass getting into unexpected places but overall finding the role comfortable due to adequate padding.
He humorously described how he got the role, debunking the myth that Bad Bunny personally called him for the gig. Athias explained that the casting call was vague, requiring specific height measurements for the role. He only discovered he would be portraying grass upon arriving for rehearsals in California.
Despite facing travel delays and having to maintain secrecy about the show, Athias felt honored to be part of such a significant event. He mentioned the thrill of seeing various celebrities emerge during the performance and the rewarding feeling of being involved in Bad Bunny’s vision of showcasing Puerto Rico to a global audience.
Athias disclosed that he earned California minimum wage for his efforts, totaling around $1,000 US, which didn’t fully cover his expenses but was a small price to pay for the experience. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity and likened his newfound recognition to the famous “left shark” from a previous Super Bowl show.
