British comedian Russell Brand has entered a plea of not guilty to fresh charges of rape and sexual assault, adding to existing accusations involving four women. The new charges, dating back to 2009, were refuted by Brand during his appearance at Southwark Crown Court. Earlier this year, the 50-year-old entertainer was charged with multiple counts of rape, sexual assault, and indecent assault.
The alleged incidents span between 1999 and 2005, with one occurring in Bournemouth and three in London. Brand denied these charges in a previous court appearance. A trial is set for June and is anticipated to run for four to five weeks. A hearing next month will determine if the new allegations will be integrated into the ongoing case, with Brand’s legal representative requesting more time to address the recent offenses.
During his court appearance, Brand sported a white cowboy hat and sunglasses. When asked about his feelings, Brand, who disclosed his Christian faith in 2024, responded that he feels “blessed.” A prominent figure on British screens in the 2000s, Brand was recognized for his flamboyant style and work as a BBC radio host.
The actor, best known for his provocative stand-up routines, has faced personal battles with substance abuse and withdrew from mainstream media in recent years. He has garnered a substantial online following through content blending wellness advice, conspiracy theories, and discussions on his religious beliefs.
