Three individuals have been charged by Peel police in connection with a deadly shooting that took place in a Brampton mall parking lot earlier this month. The suspects, two 20-year-olds from Brampton and a 25-year-old from Toronto, are now facing first-degree murder charges, as announced by Peel Regional Police in a press release issued on Wednesday.
The incident, which resulted in the death of 25-year-old Jaskarn Dhaliwal from Brampton, occurred on December 8 near Shoppers World on Main Street. Police reported that multiple gunshots were fired, and the perpetrators fled the scene before law enforcement arrived.
After an investigation into the shooting, the three accused were apprehended, and authorities have confirmed that there are no additional suspects being sought. The police emphasized that the incident appears to be isolated, assuring the public that there is no ongoing risk to safety.
The accused individuals are scheduled to appear for bail hearings at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton, according to police statements. Initially, there was reluctance to disclose the victim’s identity, but upon request, the victim was identified as Dhaliwal.
The news of the charges and arrests has brought some closure to the community following the tragic event.
