U.S. President Donald Trump was seen making a controversial gesture and using profanity in response to a factory worker’s criticism of his handling of the Jeffrey Epstein controversy during a visit to a Michigan auto plant. Video footage shared online captured the incident, which was not disputed by the White House.
The worker at the Ford F-150 assembly plant in Dearborn shouted what sounded like “pedophile protector” towards President Trump, who reacted by appearing to respond with an expletive and a hand gesture with his middle finger. Following the incident, the worker was suspended by the United Auto Workers union, although their identity remains undisclosed.
The UAW defended the worker’s right to free speech and pledged to protect their job according to contractual agreements. The union condemned any form of vulgar behavior towards workers, including from the President of the United States.
Online fundraising efforts for the worker on GoFundMe.com received substantial support, with donations exceeding $650,000 US. Despite the incident, other Ford employees showed enthusiasm and welcomed President Trump during his visit to the assembly line, with company executives expressing regret over the situation.
President Trump’s use of profanity is not uncommon, particularly in response to criticism or confrontation. His visit to the Michigan facility aimed to showcase his administration’s backing of U.S. manufacturing, emphasizing job creation and industry support as key priorities in the lead-up to the 2026 election year. Michigan holds political significance, and boosting domestic jobs has been a cornerstone of Trump’s economic agenda.
The President’s interaction with the worker is part of a pattern of confrontational exchanges, with Trump previously facing scrutiny over his association with Jeffrey Epstein and his handling of related federal records. Despite ongoing speculation, Trump has consistently denied any involvement in Epstein’s illicit activities.
