In Toronto, the FIFA Fan Festival and other World Cup watch parties were also canceled due to air quality concerns, while the Hamilton Fringe Fest had to call off several events on Friday night. Niagara Parks has halted its nightly fireworks show until air quality conditions improve.
The cancellation of events not only affects finances but also has emotional implications. Organizers and participants face difficult decisions, such as the Optimist Club of East London canceling their Canada Day celebrations due to extreme heat.
While event cancellations have financial consequences, they also impact the vendors and performers involved. Pablo Tovar, the organizer of the Colombian Gastronomy Festival in London, had to cancel the first day of the festival due to smoke, causing economic impacts on vendors. However, Tovar managed to run the festival on the remaining days as planned.
