“Actor John Reardon to Reprise Role in ‘Hudson & Rex’ Season 9”

Detective Charlie Hudson is making a comeback as actor John Reardon is set to reprise his role in the ninth season of the popular show, “Hudson & Rex,” as confirmed by Citytv on Tuesday. Reardon, a native of Halifax, originally starred in the cop-dog procedural but was temporarily replaced by English actor Luke Roberts in Season 8.

In a social media post last year, Reardon revealed that his departure from the show was due to being diagnosed with tonsil cancer during Season 7, for which he underwent treatment. Although he received clearance from doctors to return, the production team opted to go in a different direction. This decision sparked widespread backlash from fans globally, prompting a campaign for Reardon’s reinstatement through various channels, including social media and newspaper ads.

Expressing his enthusiasm to reprise his role, Reardon stated, “The series has garnered a dedicated following worldwide, and I appreciate the ongoing support. I eagerly anticipate commencing production on the upcoming season alongside the cast, crew, and network partners to deliver more adventures with Rex and the fans.”

Shaftesbury, the production company behind the show, expressed their delight in welcoming Reardon back, with Chairman and CEO Christina Jennings remarking, “We are thrilled to have him return as we know fans and we missed him. We are excited to resume work and present fans with an engaging new season.”

The upcoming season is slated to commence production in June in St. John’s, N.L. The network provided a teaser, hinting at Charlie Hudson’s return from South America to St. John’s, surprising everyone with a final mission before moving on from the Belize ordeal. Additionally, it was confirmed that Luke Roberts will continue his role as Det. Mark Hudson in the series.
