A man from Corner Brook who allegedly shot another man at a residence last week has been refused bail. Scott King, aged 36, is facing a range of firearm-related charges linked to the incident on December 29, including breaking and entering, assault causing bodily harm, aggravated assault, uttering threats of death or bodily harm, and careless use of a firearm, among other offenses.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary was called to a residence on Parkwood Drive at approximately 11:30 p.m. NT on the same day, where they discovered a man with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound, according to a statement issued at the time. The injured man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
During the court proceedings at the Corner Brook provincial courthouse, King, who had supporters present, visibly reacted with a deep sigh upon hearing the decision. Throughout much of the reading of the decision, he remained in a corner of his courtroom area, distancing himself from reporters.
King’s next court appearance is set for January 13.
