Drake Drops Triple Surprise: “Iceman,” “Habibti,” “Maid of Honour”

After a series of mysterious hints that included a massive display of ice blocks in downtown Toronto and a CN Tower takeover, Drake has finally launched his eagerly awaited ninth studio album, “Iceman,” along with two surprise albums, “Habibti” and “Maid of Honour.”

These surprise projects were revealed at the conclusion of Drake’s recent livestream event, titled “Iceman Episode 4,” where he unveiled a total of 43 songs spanning approximately two and a half hours. “Iceman” took the spotlight as the central piece of this musical release.

Drake had been hinting at “Iceman” for quite some time, first mentioning it in August 2024 following a well-publicized rap battle with Kendrick Lamar. During his Australian tour in 2025, Drake described the record as a personal dialogue with his fans that was essential for them to hear.

Prior to these releases, Drake’s last solo albums were in 2023 with “For all the Dogs,” following a collaborative album with PartyNextDoor in 2025. With his reputation as a prominent figure in the rap scene and his pursuit of landing another No. 1 hit to surpass Michael Jackson’s record, expectations were high for Drake.

The album “Iceman” serves as a platform for Drake to address his past feud with Kendrick Lamar. In the opening track, “Make Them Cry,” Drake reflects on the aftermath of the feud and its repercussions, expressing his desire for a fresh start. Throughout the album, Drake delves into introspection about the feud and takes new jabs at various figures, including Lamar, DJ Khaled, A$AP Rocky, DeMar DeRozan, LeBron James, and Universal Music Group CEO Lucian Grainge.

The music videos for “Iceman” feature prominent Toronto landmarks, showcasing Drake at locations such as Yorkville restaurant Sotto Sotto and the CN Tower. The visual storytelling extends to city halls and businesses, providing a unique Canadian backdrop for the album’s themes.

In addition to the beef-related content in “Iceman,” Drake surprised fans with the albums “Habibti” and “Maid of Honour,” offering a diverse range of musical styles and themes. “Habibti” delves into love songs that explore the complexities of relationships, while “Maid of Honour” ventures into dancehall, house, Afro-swing, and U.K. rap, providing a lively party atmosphere for listeners.

Through these releases, Drake has crafted a multifaceted musical experience that caters to various emotions and genres, showcasing his versatility and creativity as an artist.
