“Marco Odermatt’s Dominance Continues with Fourth Downhill Win”

Swiss skier Marco Odermatt continues to dominate the World Cup skiing circuit, securing his fourth downhill victory in Wengen, Switzerland. This win propels him past legends Franz Klammer and Beat Feuz for the most downhill victories on the renowned Lauberhorn course. Odermatt’s impressive streak of four consecutive wins sets him apart.

In a shortened race due to strong winds, Odermatt showcased his mastery by finishing 0.79 seconds ahead of Austria’s Vincent Kriechmayr and 0.90 seconds ahead of Italy’s Giovanni Franzoni. Canadian skier Cam Alexander also displayed a strong performance, finishing in seventh place.

The race course was altered to focus on the challenging “Kernen S” section, where Odermatt excelled, achieving unmatched speed. Other Swiss skiers, Franjo von Allmen and Alexis Money, secured fourth and fifth places, respectively. Despite a risky maneuver that led to a crash, von Allmen emerged unscathed.

Next up on the circuit are the classic venues in Kitzbuehel, Austria, before the spotlight shifts to the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics in Italy. Odermatt, a gold medalist in giant slalom at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, is poised to excel at the upcoming Games. With this victory, Odermatt marks his 52nd World Cup win, closing in on Hermann Maier’s third-place record. Additionally, he maintains a substantial lead in the overall World Cup standings as he aims for a fifth consecutive title.

Odermatt celebrated his achievement enthusiastically, acknowledging the crowd’s support filled with Swiss flag-waving fans.
