Researchers are still investigating the cause of death of a large great white shark that washed up near Pictou in northern Nova Scotia. The 580-kilogram male shark was found on a beach and a necropsy was carried out over the weekend by the Marine Animal Response Society. Dr. Laura Bourque from the Canadian Wildlife Health Co-operative in P.E.I. mentioned that no clear reason for the shark’s death was determined, and further tests are required.
Conservation efforts have aided in the recovery of the great white shark population following a significant decline in the 1970s and 1980s. Additionally, experts suggest that warmer ocean temperatures due to climate change have facilitated the northward migration of certain ocean species.
