Chrysler’s parent company, Stellantis, announced on Friday that it will be recalling over 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks worldwide due to a seat belt issue. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2026 that may have a second-row center or driver side seat belt buckle anchor that was not properly attached to the vehicle body structure. This defect could compromise the second-row seat belt system’s effectiveness, increasing the risk of injury to passengers. While Stellantis is aware of one injury linked to the recall, there have been no reported fatalities.
The recall encompasses 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 in other regions outside North America. Affected vehicle owners will be contacted by the automaker to arrange for an inspection at their nearest dealership. During the inspection, dealers will check the attachment of the second-row center and driver seat belt buckle anchor to the vehicle’s body and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper installation.
