Prime Video has made an exciting announcement for Season 2 of “Off Campus,” revealing that Canadian actors Stephen Kalyn and Mika Abdalla will take on the roles of the show’s central couple, Dean Di Laurentis and Allie Hayes.
Kalyn will portray the charming hockey defenceman, originally from Markham, Ont., and a lifelong hockey enthusiast. Abdalla will star as Allie, a fellow student at the fictional Briar University, who works at the college bar Malone’s, a popular hangout for Dean and his hockey teammates.
The streaming service introduced the news through a brief video and promotional images, signaling a shift in focus in line with the book-to-screen adaptation of “Off Campus.” Following the format of the bestselling novels by Toronto author Elle Kennedy, each season of the show revolves around a different couple.
Season 1 featured “The Deal,” showcasing the relationship between Hannah Wells (Ella Bright) and Garrett Graham (Belmont Cameli). Season 2 is set to draw inspiration from the third book in the series, “The Score,” which delves into Dean and Allie’s romantic journey.
Creator and co-showrunner Louisa Levy expressed enthusiasm about continuing Allie and Dean’s storyline as the primary romance for the second season, building on their initial connection in the first season. Levy also assured fans that Hannah and Garrett would remain integral to the show.
Aside from the main cast, new additions to the series include Philippa Soo (known for “Hamilton” and “Doctor Odyssey”) as a guest director involved in a university drama department production, where Allie pursues her acting aspirations. India Fowler (“Fear Street: Prom Queen,” “The Strangers: Chapter 1”) will join the core cast as Grace Ivers, the love interest of hockey player John Logan (Antonio Cipriano) and a key character from the second book, “The Mistake.”
Returning series regulars include Bright, Cameli, Cipriano, and Jalen Thomas Brooks (John Tucker). “Off Campus” has been a hit on Prime Video, currently ranking as the top show on Amazon Prime Video in Canada. The series, which premiered all eight episodes on May 13, garnered 36 million global viewers within its first 12 days, solidifying its position as one of the streaming service’s successful launches according to company metrics.
