Stellantis announced a global recall of more than 1.3 million Jeep SUVs and trucks due to fire risks, advising owners to park away from structures or other vehicles until the issue is resolved. The recall affects Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator models from 2021 to 2025, with a concern related to an electrical connection problem in the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring. This issue, in rare cases, could lead to overheating of combustible materials, potentially resulting in a vehicle fire.
The recall encompasses approximately 1.08 million vehicles in the U.S., 106,000 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico, and around 125,000 in other global markets, according to Stellantis. The company stated that the recall process will include inspections and potential repairs or replacements of the wiring harness or electric hydraulic power steering pump.
Stellantis is committed to expediting the availability of the remedy and aims to complete the recall fix by July at the latest. Although there has been one reported injury associated with the issue, Stellantis confirmed no accidents or fatalities linked to the problem.
