In a 2-0 victory, Emily Pohl and Lindsay Stepnowski scored for the Americans, with Talla Hansen contributing two assists. The U.S. goalkeeper, Bianca Birrittieri, made 38 saves to secure the shutout, while Lea-Rose Charrois stopped 25 shots in the Canadian net.
Pohl opened the scoring for the U.S. at 14:08 of the first period, followed by Stepnowski extending the lead at 18:17 of the second. Meanwhile, the Czech Republic triumphed over Sweden 4-3 in the bronze-medal final.
In the preliminary round of Group A, Canada dominated with a 3-0 record, defeating Switzerland 9-0, Hungary 14-0, and Sweden 9-2. Subsequently, Canada secured a 12-0 win over Finland in the quarterfinals and an 8-1 victory against the Czech Republic in the semifinals.
